Checked Baggage Allowance The following rules apply for checked baggage in the weight and piece system:
Weight System:

On all domestic routes-
Tourist Class passengers can carry up to a maximum of 15 kg.
Culb Condor passengers enjoy a baggage allowance of 30Kg.

On International flights-
Tourist Class passengers can carry up to a maximum of 20 kg, except on certain routes where the baggage allowance ranges from 25-32 kg.
Culb Condor passengers enjoy a baggage allowance of 30Kg, except on certain routes where the baggage allowance is 40 kg.

Piece System:
This system is applicable for travel in countries like the US, Australia and New Zealand and passengers are required to adhere to the following requirements:
Economy Class- Each ticketed passenger can carry 2 pieces of baggage, each weighing not more than 32kg and not exceeding 62 linear inches.
Class Club Condor- Each ticketed passenger can carry 2 pieces of baggage, each weighing or more than 32 kg and not exceeding 62 linear inches.

Excess Baggage Rules The following rules are applicable for baggage exceeding the permitted limits of free allowance:
Domestic flights: 125MXN for every additional kilogram of baggage
Flights to Brazil: 1% of the normal "Y" single fare will be charged per kilogram of excess baggage.

Bicycle: 50 USD. This fee will not be charged to passengers that show a Federación Mexicana de Triatlón member ID to the airport agent. The allowance is one bicycle per athlete, with only one seat and no motor, and packed for transportation.
Hunting/fishing/golf/ski equipment: 55 USD

American Airlines

Carry-on Allowance "You are allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item.
• All carry-on pieces, including laptops, must fit either underneath the seat in front of you or in an overhead bin.
• The one carry-on bag must fit in an overhead compartment or under the seat. It should not exceed 45 linear inches (length + width + height) or weigh more than 40 lbs/18 kg.
• Carry-on items which appear too large or irregularly shaped to fit under a seat, in an overhead compartment, or in a closet will not be accepted as carry-on baggage and will need to be checked.
• At times, additional limits may be placed on carry-on baggage based on the main cabin stowage capacity of specific aircraft."
Checked Baggage Allowance American Airlines allows you two pieces of checked baggage within the following permissible limits:

  • Domestic - 1 piece, maximum weight 23Kg, maximum size 45in.
  • International - 2 piece, maximum weight 23Kg, maximum size 62in.
"Customers who purchased domestic economy class tickets May 12, 2008, through June 14, 2008, may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after June 15, 2008, will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag."

The following customers will not be charged a service fee to check a bag provided the bag is within the weight allowance:
  • For the first checked bag, customers who buy a ticket before June 15, 2008, or who fly before June 15, 2008
  • For the second checked bag, customers who purchased a ticket before May 12, 2008
  • Customers traveling on an international itinerary to destinations beyond the U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, or Canada
  • Customers who purchase full-fare tickets in Economy Class
  • Customers who purchase Business or First Class tickets
  • Customers flying on AA code share flights not operated by American Airlines, American Eagle or American Connection®

  • First and Business Class upgrades confirmed prior to check in AAirpass travel
Excess Baggage Rules If your baggage exceeds American Airlines' permissible limit of free baggage allowance, you're required to pay additional fee based on quantity, weight and size. For bags weighing 51-70 lbs, you'll be charged an additional amount of $25 to $95 depending on quantity, and for bags between 71- 100 lbs, the fee is $60 to $90 each, depending on quantity. There is a fee of $80 for every bag between 63-115 inches. Bags weighing over 100 lbs and 115 inches are not accepted. The rates for additional pieces of baggage are- $80 each for 1-3 pieces, $105 each for 4-6 pieces and $180 each for over 7 pieces.

If you are unable to locate a checked bag upon arrival, you should notify an American Airlines/American Eagle baggage service agent prior to leaving the airport. At that time, you will be given a Baggage Claim ID and a brochure explaining the baggage recovery process. Carry-on Allowance "For travel worldwide on United, you may carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop computer.

• A carry-on bag must fit under your seat or in the overhead bin.
• Carry-on bag dimensions should not be more than 9 x 14 x 22 in/22 x 35 x 55 cm (length + width + height) or 45 linear in/112 linear cm (the length, height and width added together).

United may require that a carry-on item travel as checked baggage if the item cannot be safely stowed on a particular flight."
Checked Baggage Policies United Airlines revised the checked baggage policy for United Economy® travel within the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.
• If you have purchased your tickets before February 4, 2008 and are traveling any time, there are no service fee will be charged for checked baggage.
• If you have purchased your tickets between February 4, 2008 and June 12, 2008 and are traveling any time $ 25 fee will apply for a second checked bag.
• If you have purchased your tickets on or after June 13 2008 and are traveling between June 13, 2008 and August 17, 2008, a $25 fee will apply for a second checked bag.
• If you have purchased your tickets On or after June 13, 2008 and are traveling on or after August 18, 2008 a $15 service fee will apply for your first checked bag and $ 25 will be charged for the second bag.

Travel to/from U.S. and international destinations
• Global Services,Premier Executive,Star Alliance Gold- 3 pieces, Max. Size 62 linear inches, Weight 32kg.
• Business/First class- 2 pieces, Max. Size 62 linear inches, Weight 32kg.
• Economy- 2 pieces, Max. Size 62 linear inches, Weight 23kg.

You are exempt from the above fees for checking your first two bags if you are:
• Traveling in United First® or United Business®
• A Global Services SM, Mileage Plus® 1K®, Premier Executive®, Premier® or Premier Associate® member;
• A Star Alliance® Gold or Silver member; or
• Military personnel traveling on orders.
Excess Baggage Rules If your baggage exceeds United Airlines' permissible limits of free baggage allowance, you're required to pay an additional fee based on quantity, weight and size. For each bag weighing 51-100 lb, you'll be charged an additional amount of $125. Bags exceeding 62-115 inches will be charged $125 per item. Bags weighing over 100 lbs and 115 inches are not accepted. Also, the following charges apply for additional bags- $100 to $125 each for 3-4 extra bags, and $250 each for 5 and up.

Alaska Airlines

Carry-on Allowance "You're allowed one carry-on bag, which can measure up to 10" H x 17" W x 24" L (25 x 43 x 61 cm), plus one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase or laptop computer. At least one of the items should be stowed under the seat in front of you."
Checked Baggage Allowance "Effective May 21st, 2008 Alaska Airlines and Horizon Airlines will be charging $25 for checking a second bag. First Class passengers and Mileage Plan members traveling within Alaska will not have to pay the $25 fee."
Excess Baggage Rules If your baggage exceeds the permissible limit of free baggage allowance, you're required to pay an additional fee based on quantity, weight and size. Delayed or damaged bags should be reported in person to the Alaska Airlines baggage office within 24 hours of arrival time. It's important to retain copies of your ticket, baggage claim check and any receipts you may have accumulated for expenses incurred as a result of the mishandling. Sports Equipment Some sporting equipment (snow skis, golf clubs), may be checked in lieu of one piece of luggage, if packaged in a suitable container. Sporting equipment checked in addition to the free baggage allowance is charged an excess fee. There is a fee charged in all situations for some equipment (surfboards, scuba gear). Checked Baggage Allowance "Continental Airlines implemented a $25 fee for customers checking a second bag when traveling on Economy fare tickets. The fee applies to travel commencing on or after May 5, 2008 within the 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. Certain customers will be exempt from paying the new fee and will be allowed to check second bags free of charge (bags must meet weight and size restrictions). These customers include:

•OnePass Elite members
• SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus members
• Any customer traveling on a ticket purchased in Y class of service
•Continental Airlines Presidential Plus credit card holders
• Active military personnel traveling on orders"

Sports Equipment Continental accepts one item of archery equipment per customer in lieu of one piece of free baggage. Besides, a non-motorized bicycle with single seat or up to two non-motorized bicycles packed in one case is accepted as a checked baggage. You can also carry one Boogie/Skim/Speed board or one board bag containing up to two boards per customer in lieu of one piece of free baggage. Checked Baggage Allowance If you’re traveling Coach Class, you’re allowed 2 checked bags provided each of these falls within the following permissible limits:

First Class passengers can carry two bags, each weighing up to 70 lb/32 kg, and dimensions not exceeding 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height).
Excess Baggage Rules If your baggage exceeds the permissible limits of free baggage allowance, you’re required to pay additional fee based on quantity, weight and size. For each bag weighing 51-70 lb, you’ll be charged an additional amount of $50, and for bags between 70- 100 lb the fee is $80 each. For every bag between 63 and 80 inches, you’re required to pay an additional amount of $80. There is a fee of $80 each for up to 7 additional bags. Bags weighing over 100 lbs and exceeding 80 inches are not accepted.
